First impressions definitely count. That’s why, when Dongguan-based property developer Central Times was looking to update its office space, it turned to Danny Cheng Interiors to help conceive an aesthetic that corresponded to its upmarket offerings. Indeed, the striking, sinuous design and inspiring use of expressive arcs evoke a simple yet refined elegance – one that passers-by and visitors alike have come to associate with the high-end real estate brand.
The starting point for designer Danny Cheng, the visionary behind this particular project, was the reflective pool that encircles the property. "There’s a pond outside the building, so I decided to use water as the theme," he explains. "The waves on the ceiling, curved screens, S-shaped benches – they’re all art installations. They complement each other and connect to the space."
Danny notes that in our era of globalism and hegemony, it’s now more important than ever to design with the character and style of the client in mind, and to retain a timeless spirit of individualism that sets the brand apart. 處理本項目時，設計師Danny Cheng一起首便先以包圍物業的炫目水池為起點。「大樓外圍建有一潭水，所以就決定以『水』為主題。」他解釋：「天花的波浪紋理、彎形屏風和S型長椅也是藝術裝置，能互相襯托之餘更能把各個空間連繫起來。」

Of course, for the office to be considered a success it has to be judged on form as well as function, and Danny and his team have also triumphed in presenting style with substance. Sweeping, sculptural stainless-steel screens keep the space open and fluid, while at the same time offering privacy for those in the lounge area. Furnishings throughout echo the contours of the greater structure, with only the architectural models introducing an angular rigidity to the interiors – a smart move that in turn allows them to stand out even more.

一個辦公室項目被視乎成功與否，當然要根據其外型與功能才能作出評估，Danny和他的專業團隊就能活用各種豐富物料，展現超凡風尚。外型設計滿載雕塑風的不 鋼屏風成就開放式空間和自然流動過度效果，同時又可為安坐於閒住區的人士提供適量私隱。各處傢具與這宏偉建築互相輝映，空間中只有建築模型為室內裝潢帶來尖角線條，如此巧妙安排讓展品更能從中突圍而出。

"The importance of interior design is not only to create something special and good-looking, but to decide which elements to put together to bring consistency and elegance. That’s why I pay attention to every single detail. It looks simple, but the process behind it wasn’t. In addition to the visual aesthetics, we also care about how people feel about the space. We want them to feel a sense of elegance." //
構想空間設計時，Danny並未有投進傳統豪華元素的懷抱，並解釋指自己更愛簡約和樸實設計。「於我看來——奢華與否——物料其實也僅為營造氣氛的表達工具。」他說著：「室內設計的關鍵不只在乎開出獨特、美觀的外觀，而是決定應該把怎樣的元素湊在一起達致統一連繫和優雅品味。這就是我如此關心每個細節的原因。看來簡單，但背後過程絕對不然。除了注入視覺美學之外，我們也非常重視人們對空間的感受，目標在於讓他們享受到優雅之美。」//
