CHANEL

-

You don’t usually expect to see supermodels in the supermarket. But Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais of Paris into Le Bon Marché for his latest collection. There was nothing cut-price about it, from the toocute jewel-encrusted miniature wire shopping baskets to the iconic pink tweed suit, complete with pearls. The cinched waist was a key silhouette, the shapeliest being Sam Rollinson’s in an orange tweed jumpsuit. Overall, the look was casual, with distressed pink tracksuits and exposed midriffs, fingerless gloves and trainers. The metallic grey palette was offset with vivid orange, bright pink and citrus green—as hair-wraps and on eyelids, too. The models clearly enjoyed the high camp. Celebrity faces included Kendall Jenner and Stella Tennant, with Joan Smalls in the audience, ensuring Chanel was one of the season’s most talked-about shows.
