More than 20 per cent of Denmark’s energy comes from renewable sources, mostly wind turbines; the goal is 100 per cent by 2050. An active cycling culture also minimises pollution. About 40 per cent of Copenhagen’s population commutes to work by bike on some 400 kilometres of designated cycle paths.
