SMOG-BUSTING CONCRETE, THE NETHERLANDS

-

Dutch researchers have discovered that concrete, when infused with titanium dioxide, sucks nitrogen oxides out of the air. When they paved a city street with the special concrete, levels of the toxins were halved. They are now devising ways to add titanium dioxide to common items, such as roof tiles, car exteriors and even clothing, to reduce airborne pollutants.
