Jino Khidhr, CO-FOUNDER OF MEN’S FASHION AND LIFESTYLE SHOWROOM ED1TUS, DISCUSSES HIS ACCIDENTAL CAREER IN FASHION

Hong Kong Tatler - - Contents -

Meet Jino Khidhr, co-founder of Ed1tus, the city’s first men’s lifestyle showroom

From his knowledge of hong kong, you’d think Jino Khidhr has lived in the city for his entire life, rather than it being little more than a year since he moved here from his native Italy. He’s settled in so well that he already has favourite hiking trails (by the beach in Tai Long Wan) and hang-outs (Ronin in Sheung Wan). “I moved here from my hometown of Milan to launch Ed1tus with my business partner,” says Khidhr. “I never thought I would really end up in Hong Kong because I got into the industry of fashion by chance, to be honest.” Khidhr had been an avid soccer player in school and a teammate referred him to Tom Ford. Almost a decade later, he came to Hong Kong and co-founded a lifestyle showroom that combines fashion (10 labels and counting) and food (a private dining area catered by the Butchers Club complete with an outdoor event space). What’s next? “We’re planning to launch a retail space in the showroom later this year. Stay tuned.”

I LOOK FOR SIMPLE YET HIGH QUALITY STYLES FOR BOTH MYSELF AND THE SHOWROOM

past times Jino Khidhr, surrounded by vintage pieces from The World Beyond, takes a break between showroom appointments

“A leather motorcycle jacket is my go- to outerwear when I can’t think of what to wear. This one from new Italian label Covert goes with just about everything I own”

“Man of the World is a quarterly magazine from New York that covers just about everything I love. Great articles and beautiful photography”

“I don’t use bags usually, so this portfolio case is perfect. It can hold my laptop and documents, and fits into my carry- on when I travel for work”

“I travel a lot for work and I never board a flight or train without these Beats by Dr Dre headphones”

“These CB slippers by Cecilia Bringheli are so worn in but they’re really the best. Each pair is handmade in Italy and they’re incredibly durable”

“A signature scent is something that’s important to me— I don’t like to have the same fragrance as everyone else. I use Mirko Buffini’s Haecceitas, which has a musk and vanilla base note”

“I got this lizard skin business card holder when I was working at Tom Ford nearly six years ago and I’ve been using it ever since”
