Co-chaired by lo­cal art and cul­ture mav­er­icks Andy Hei and Calvin Hui, Fine Art Asia is now in its 10th year and is slated to host 100 famed gal­leries from around the world. More than 6,500 mu­seum-grade works, worth in ex­cess of HK$2.8 bil­lion in to­tal, will fill the 86,000sqft space. Vis­i­tors will be treated to a vast ar­ray of dif­fer­ent types of fine art pieces, in­clud­ing paint­ings by Renoir, Matisse and Pi­casso; del­i­cate Chi­nese ceram­ics and lac­quer­ware; and stun­ning jew­ellery from Cartier, Van Cleef & Ar­pels and oth­ers. High­lights in­clude an an­cient Ira­nian agate col­lec­tion, val­ued at over US$100,000; an ar­chaic bronze fig­ure from western Ti­bet, val­ued at HK$27.3 mil­lion; a Burmese sap­phire brooch that was a gift for El­iz­a­beth Tay­lor; and the paint­ing 28.8.96 by renowned Chi­nese con­tem­po­rary artist Zao Wou-ki.
