FINE ART ASIA SHOWCASES THE BEST IN ANTIQUES AND CONTEMPORA­RY ART FROM THE EAST AND WEST

Co-chaired by local art and culture mavericks Andy Hei and Calvin Hui, Fine Art Asia is now in its 10th year and is slated to host 100 famed galleries from around the world. More than 6,500 museum-grade works, worth in excess of HK$2.8 billion in total, will fill the 86,000sqft space. Visitors will be treated to a vast array of different types of fine art pieces, including paintings by Renoir, Matisse and Picasso; delicate Chinese ceramics and lacquerwar­e; and stunning jewellery from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and others. Highlights include an ancient Iranian agate collection, valued at over US$100,000; an archaic bronze figure from western Tibet, valued at HK$27.3 million; a Burmese sapphire brooch that was a gift for Elizabeth Taylor; and the painting 28.8.96 by renowned Chinese contempora­ry artist Zao Wou-ki.
