Pockets full of style
Dior Homme
One of the best shows this season saw beautiful tailoring mixed with innovative trends devoid of gimmickry. It was nicely paced in groups of looks, each introducing a single element and expanding on it. Suits opened the collection: the first three were conservative; the fourth hinted at detail ( the inside label worn out); the next look emphasised detail ( in navy and white polka dot) and the final look compounded it: head- to- toe polka dot. The closing pieces echoed this pattern, with an abstract rose motif worn on suits, oversized blazers and sweaters. Denim made a marked appearance, most freshly as a suit worn with jeans and a heavily pocketed waistcoat, a look that was duplicated on a suit jacket and camouflage waistcoat. The skill of Dior was to present novel ideas within restrained and functional tailoring.
