Inside out
Salvatore Ferragamo
A dressing gown for outerwear? Ferragamo’s latest collection is based on the assumption that our private lives are becoming public. Suits were a contemporary take on 1950s pyjama stripes; rugs were transformed into coats and blanket fringes were hidden in the lining of jackets. Texture is big news for fashion this season and it was interpreted beautifully here— brushed tailoring, blanket weaves, inserts and overlaps, leather, knitted sleeves, and shirts with embellished edges. Cheerful hues of blue were big, from Dutch to midnight. A favourite was a vibrant blue silk suit trimmed with mustard. Indeed, colour combinations were riotous— textured mustard mixed with light teal; orange blocked with chocolate brown; caramel and beige. Heavyrimmed glasses were worn as accessories.
