Young, free, liberated— and wearing leather; that’s how Donatella sees contemporary men this season. In a melding of the biker and the cowboy, men are encouraged to round up outlaws at work in wide- shouldered single- breasted suits decorated with sheriff badges, horseshoes and even cactus. Ties were leather or shoestring. Leather chaps became gradually more risqué— starting modestly, with suede on the inside leg and zips at the ankle, and then revealing the season’s bandana- print underwear. A shawl- collared tuxedo in wool mohair bouclé with realgold lurex was striking. Fun twists on the theme were handcuffs tied to bags and the models’ footwear— Cuban heels, of course.
