A Legend is Born

The great Barolo house of Giacomo Conterno will soon release a new red, 2010 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Ceretta. The winery is famous for making long-aged Barolos under the name Monfortino, but winemaker Roberto Conterno explains that the Ceretta is a new interpretation of Barolo for his winery. The small vineyard from which the wine comes, near the town of Serralunga d’alba, was purchased in 2008. The wine shows phenomenal depth and intensity, with excellent purity and polish. Only 2,000 magnums and 150 three-litre bottles were made of the first release. 100 points
