The Hong Kong Open, first played in 1959, is the oldest professional sporting event in Hong Kong.

Ten Major champions including Rory Mcilroy, Bernhard Langer and Greg Norman have won the Hong Kong Open.

Since it became a European Tour event, the course record over 72 holes at the Hong Kong Open is held by Ian Poulter – who scored a total 258, or 22- under- par, in 2010.

Only two players have ever defended their Hong Kong Open title: Hsieh Yung- yo ( 1963- 64) and Miguel Angel Jiménez ( 2012- 13).
