With an ex­ten­sive back­ground in gem­mol­ogy and art his­tory, He­len be­gan her ca­reer in the jew­ellery in­dus­try after grad­u­at­ing from Ox­ford Univer­sity. She qual­i­fied as a Fel­low of the Gem­mo­log­i­cal As­so­ci­a­tion of Great Bri­tain with Dis­tinc­tion, and a fas­ci­nat­ing ca­reer as a jew­ellery spe­cial­ist in in­ter­na­tional auc­tions fol­lowed, as she worked at Sotheby’s and then Christie’s in London and Geneva for more than 10 years. In 2011, He­len left Christie’s to set up her own jew­ellery ad­vi­sory business, sourc­ing for clients and re­search­ing pri­vate col­lec­tions. At the same time she be­came Pro­fesseur de l’his­toire de Bi­joux et Gem­molo­gie in Geneva. She is cur­rently the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the Gü­be­lin Academy in Hong Kong which shares the company’s knowl­edge about gem­stones with a pas­sion­ate and prac­ti­cal ap­proach.
