JA­PAN’S PREMIER MA­GI­CIAN, CYRIL, IS A FAN OF CLÉ DE PEAU BEAUTÉ SYNACTIF COL­LEC­TION’S SIM­PLE REGIME AND TRANS­FOR­MA­TIVE RE­SULTS

Cyril is one of Ja­pan’s most popular ma­gi­cians who reg­u­larly tours the coun­try with his sell-out live stage show “Magic Revo­lu­tion: The Xperience.” Voted Ma­gi­cian of the Year in 2007, he has also starred in his own TV show Cyril,sim­ply­magic.

Cyril has trav­elled the world with his magic show and more re­cently has pro­duced TV shows such as Cyril’sfamily Va­ca­tion in ex­otic lo­ca­tions in­clud­ing Hawaii and Brazil. But his re­cent trip to Hong Kong to per­form at the launch of Clé de Peau Beauté’s new Synactif Col­lec­tion was the first time he has worked with a beauty brand.

“There are many sim­i­lar­i­ties be­tween magic and beauty,” he said be­fore the show. “First of all, they both have to be some­thing that you be­lieve in. Magic comes from within, just as beauty comes from within. They are both trans­for­ma­tive, they are both unimag­in­able and they are both per­fectible.”

“I needed to un­der­stand the prod­uct so I be­came a user. And let me tell you, it has been quite mag­i­cal. In us­ing the prod­uct, I have started to re­alise what th­ese key words are. I took the el­e­ments, which were trans­for­ma­tive, unimag­in­able, and per­fec­tion. And I wanted to cre­ate a show that em­pha­sised th­ese key el­e­ments. So tonight for this show I am do­ing a one-hour spe­cial showcase of magic and beauty.”

The Amer­i­can-ja­panese ma­gi­cian, whose sig­na­ture trick in­volves a ham­burger and a restau­rant menu, draws on the full range of his ex­pe­ri­ences for his art and sees magic as a “way of life.”

“I love chal­leng­ing my­self to do new things that I have never done be­fore,” he says. “In this case, on my trip to Hong Kong, it was chal­leng­ing to try to com­bine magic and beauty. I took el­e­ments of magic that I have done in the past and also cre­ated new el­e­ments of magic and tried to com­bine th­ese to ex­press what magic and beauty may be.”

Cyril says his favourite as­pect of cre­at­ing a new magic trick is the brain­storm­ing process. This is be­cause “ideas are un­lim­ited and you can go in any di­rec­tion, when you start brain­storm­ing. But the most re­ward­ing stage is when you achieve an ef­fect, the trick comes to­gether and the au­di­ence re­sponds with ap­plause, smiles or ex­pres­sions of awe.”

As a ma­gi­cian with a busy sched­ule, Cyril said that he main­tained his skin in a good con­di­tion through a com­bi­na­tion of a proper diet, ex­er­cise and us­ing the right skin­care prod­ucts—such as the Synactif Col­lec­tion.

Cyril’s favourite prod­uct from the col­lec­tion is the soap, which he uses be­fore the lo­tion and the cream as part of his daily rou­tine. At home he has the full Synactif skin­care range lined up in his bath­room.

“Hon­estly, I had never thought that th­ese prod­ucts would have been for men. But in us­ing them, I dis­cov­ered that there are very easy steps.”

“I don’t like to sit there and have to go through six or seven dif­fer­ent bot­tles just to main­tain my skin. So in this case, with the prod­ucts that Clé de Peau Beauté of­fer, its three pro­cesses in the morn­ing and four in the evening, which is great—it’s sim­ple.”

When it comes to magic, how­ever, Cyril’s pa­tience and ded­i­ca­tion to get­ting just the right mix of el­e­ments for a stun­ning rou­tine or trick knows no bounds. “My magic is never com­pleted be­cause I am al­ways try­ing to per­fect it,” he says. “Even after years and years of still per­form­ing the same con­tents­— even a decade later—i am al­ways try­ing to find new ways to per­fect the magic.”
