Hong Kong Tatler and wine critic James Suck­ling joined forces again to present the third edi­tion of Asia’s largest show­case of pre­mium Ital­ian wines. Held in the grand ball­room of the Four Sea­sons, the two-day Great Wines of Italy event brought to­gether rep­re­sen­ta­tives from 77 of Italy’s best winer­ies, al­low­ing more than 1,000 lo­cal and vis­it­ing oenophiles to sam­ple the finest bot­tles from dif­fer­ent re­gions, and to meet and chat with the pro­duc­ers. An ex­clu­sive din­ner fea­tur­ing wine from the par­tic­i­pat­ing es­tates marked the open­ing of the event. The menu, which in­cluded baked duck breast with rock salt and wok-fried Aus­tralian beef with man­darin peel, was lov­ingly pre­pared by chef Chan Yan-tak of Lung King Heen. Par­tic­i­pat­ing winer­ies in­cluded Pio Ce­sare, Bibi Graetz, Castiglion del Bosco and March­esi Anti­nori, to name just a few. Those who stayed well past mid­night en­joyed of­fer­ings from a wine-tast­ing bar spe­cially set up for the evening. Among the guests were Moses Tsang, Mon­ica Wong, Olivia Lee-davies and Charles Yang. The din­ner was fol­lowed the next day by the Grand Tast­ing.
