Developed by Soho 189 Art Lane promises to be Hong Kong’s hottest hub for art, beauty and dining
Cissy Pao-watari,
overs and shakers were out in full force last month for the grand opening of Soho 189 Art Lane—hong Kong’s hippest new gallery and lifestyle complex, conceptualised by artistturned-businesswoman Cissy Pao-watari. Located at 189 Queen’s Road West, it houses Jane Chao-lee’s Galerie Huit, Leo Gallery and Pearl Lam Galleries’ second Hong Kong space. It also features a beauty salon by celebrity hairstylist Kim Robinson and the Spanish tapas bar La Paloma. “Retail space with such high ceilings on lanes like Soho 189 is very rare in Hong Kong. When I saw this space become available, my vision for the hub was born,” says Pao-watari. “I am excited because I am pushing boundaries and venturing into the old Western District neighbourhood, which I hope will attract more interest and cultural development.”
