The 2014 vintage was one of the coldest and wettest in memory in many parts of Italy, particularly in Tuscany. So it comes as no surprise that the owners of Biondi Santi, the famous Brunello di Montalcino winery, have announced they will not be making a 2014 Brunello. Jacopo Biondi Santi says the winery is all about being “serious” and that it doesn’t make Brunello when “the vintage goes wrong.” What is made will be bottled as 2014 Rosso di Montalcino.
