t seems Able Friend, the strapping chestnut stallion owned by Cornel and Tisa Li (pictured left, holding trophy), can’t put a hoof wrong. The racehorse claimed victory in the Champions Mile at Sha Tin Racecourse on May 3, continuing a jaw-dropping winning streak that saw him triumph at the Longines Hong Kong Mile in December, as well as the Stewards’ Cup and the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup. The five-year-old horse, trained by John Moore and guided to victory by jockey João Moreira, has been confirmed for a trip to England to run in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 16. “He’s just outstanding. He just does everything properly,” says Moreira. “He’s a dream horse.” Timothy Fok, president of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, presented the Champions Mile trophy to the proud owners.
