Budding Hong Kong pop star releases his first music video Andrew Clifford Pong
usical stardom is seemingly within reach of Andrew Clifford Pong, who releases his debut single and music video, Tonight, this month. The son of environmentalist Sharon Kwok-pong and her husband, Stanley Pong, he splits his time between Los Angeles, South Korea and Hong Kong. He worked with K-pop star Kahi on the track, which draws inspiration from Pong’s diverse taste in music, including Asian pop, British rock and electronic dance music. His first tune has quite a retro sound compared to other Asian pop songs, with a lot of bass guitar and drums. “It’s something a little more edgy, and that’s what I wanted,” says Pong. The music video was filmed in Hong Kong and is inspired by his love of movies. “I wanted to create a cinematic story,” he says. The pop star is following in his father’s footsteps in the pursuit of musical prowess—his father is a keen guitarist.
