Mahnaz and David Lee Shirley Hiranand, Joanna Hotung and Reyna Harilela Indian social worker Sindhutai Sapkal, who has dedicated her life to helping the destitute women and orphans of Pune, Maharashtra, was named The One 2015 at the gala. “When the world is in chaos, we need a hero, and this hero will inspire us not to worry about ourselves, but to help those in need,” said David Harilela, founder of the humanitarian award. Sindhutai Sapkal received US$100,000 for her cause, and the three other finalists received US$50,000 each, donated by the Peter Bennett Foundation.
