chanel Karl Lagerfeld took a gamble this season with the clever concept of repurposing the Grand Palais into a casino. Celebrity muses and friends of the house participated in the show by donning bespoke looks and re-editions of Mademoiselle Chanel’s first fine jewellery collection, Bijoux de Diamants. Risk was also taken in the creation of the clothes, with dimensional elements such as hand-cut camellias on a cocoon coat and the use of 3D-printing techniques. “The idea was to take the most iconic jacket from the 20th century and turn it into a 21st-century version, which was technically not possible at the time it was born,” explains Lagerfeld. The finale brought a cream suit and trouser ensemble with a tulle train, worn by Kendall Jenner, Lagerfeld’s muse du jour.
