Faerie ball
agicians, minstrels and Shakespearean actors from around the globe will bewitch and delight revellers at the Oxford and Cambridge Society’s biennial ball, which will celebrate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth, at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel on October 10. Some 500 members, friends and guests of the society will be entertained by the troupe as they enjoy drinks in the “Dreamers Garden” before a feast of English wines and fruits of the forest. Offerings from British Airways, Timothy Oulton, Shangri-la Hotels and Resorts and the BBC, among others, will go under the hammer of Jonathan Stone of Christie’s during the evening to raise funds for the Oxford and Cambridge Society Scholarship Fund. Patrons David Li, representing Cambridge, and David Akersjones, representing Oxford, will preside over the night, whose tagline is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
