CEO PROFILE BACKGROUND

Paolo Marai grew up loving watches, a passion inherited from his father and grandfathe­r. After graduating from Bocconi University, he started his career with Thomson Consumer Electronic­s, but then switched to luxury and fashion, where he worked for almost 15 years in connection with brands such as Fendi, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Kenzo. In 2005, after a stint at the Swatch Group, he was appointed president and CEO of the Timex Group’s luxury division, which is responsibl­e for the production of Salvatore Ferragamo’s watchmakin­g line.

Salvatore Ferragamo’s

2015 timepiece collection focused on revisiting the existing F-80 and Ferragamo 1898 Sport lines for men; for women, it launched the Varina collection. Marai believes the new collection­s will do well in Asia as the company has adjusted case sizes to fit smaller wrists.
