Gaydamak

BACKGROUND Parisian-born siblings of Russian heritage, Sonia and Katya Gaydamak founded their jewellery company in 2009. Inspired by history, nature and travel, their designs revolve around a hand bracelet concept, which emerged when Katya accidentally caught a chain around her palm. Katya designs the collections and Sonia is a gem specialist—both graduated from New York’s GIA. Stars including Alicia Keys and Salma Hayek have been seen wearing the sisters’ unusual jewellery, which has been on sale in outlets such as Montaigne Market and Le Bon Marché in Paris; Couturelab, Kabiri and Frost in London; various retailers in the US, Lebanon and Kuwait; and now at Lane Crawford in Harbour City.

DESIGN SIGNATURE Animals, flowers, leaves, art, antique books, military medals and vintage Russian lace all provide inspiration for Gaydamak bracelet designs.

FAVOURITE MATERIALS The sisters like to work with fine white, rose or yellow gold, mounted with the finest precious and semi-precious stones.
