The Hong Kong Tatler Ball is renowned for kicking off the annual party season with a bang, and this year was no exception. On arrival at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, guests traversed a dramatic hall of mirrors to a cocktail reception humming with the expectant chatter and laughter of friends old and new, waiters circling laden with cocktails and canapés. La Prairie’s Caviar Bar added an extra dose of decadence, dispensing glistening salty treats by the spoonful, and The Macallan Cocktail Bar served up a storm. Hong Kong’s loveliest luminaries, bedecked in their finest frocks and rocks, filled the room. Charlotte Chen looked particularly dazzling in Mary Katrantzou, Victoria Tangowen was a vision in Lanvin, and our September cover star, Cindy Chao, was on sartorial point in Stéphane Rolland. Stephen and Deborah Hung deserve special mention for their adherence to the theme, “Let it Shine,” which they embodied in their matching red glittering ensembles.
