Mayuri Vara

BACKGROUND Of Indian descent but born and raised in london, Mayuri Vara moved to Hong Kong five years ago. A pharmacist on course to a career in medicine, she veered off to explore her passion for art and design. A self-taught jewellery designer, Vara launched her first collection in Hong Kong.

Design signature

Vara says she designs pieces she would wear herself, jewellery that can be used as everyday accessories but can double up for evening events as well. “i like statement pieces, worn with a crisp white shirt during the day, that you can wear with a dress at night, too,” she says. she adds that Vara of london reflects her diverse heritage, her time in Hong Kong and iconic influences, including the late elizabeth Taylor.

Design PHILOSOPHY

Most of Vara of london’s collections are handcrafted with intricate detailing. since the launch of the brand at the saatchi gallery in 2014, Vara’s pieces have been featured in a number of international publications.
