ow in its 12th year, the Sov­er­eign Asian Art Prize is open to artists nom­i­nated by art pro­fes­sion­als in coun­tries and ter­ri­to­ries across the re­gion. The com­pe­ti­tion’s fi­nal stage will see 30 short­listed art­works brought to Hong Kong to be ex­hib­ited for the pub­lic and the judges—this year, they’ll be on dis­play from May 21 to 31 at The Ro­tunda in One Ex­change Square. On June 3 at the Four Sea­sons Ho­tel, the win­ner will be an­nounced at the gala din­ner, where he or she will be awarded a prize of US$30,000. The win­ning art­work then be­comes the prop­erty of the Sov­er­eign Art Foun­da­tion, which lends it out to part­ners, pa­trons and in­sti­tu­tions; the re­main­ing 29 art­works are sold at auc­tion, with pro­ceeds go­ing to the artists and to­wards the Sov­er­eign Art Foun­da­tion’s char­i­ta­ble ac­tiv­i­ties.
