Beach Baubles
The strong light of summer cries out for brightly coloured jewellery. Charlene Co assesses some fun pieces that deserve to make it into your beach tote
As you prepare to soak up some generous doses of vitamin sea during a season of glorious sun-soaked days at the beach, remember that jewellery is as much a holiday essential as your bikini, sarong, straw hat and, of course, sun-protection lotions and after-sun potions. Whether you wear them individually or stack them, sautoir necklaces are a great way to accessorise your swimsuit or kaftan. The Rose des Vents necklace in yellow gold set with lapis lazuli by Dior Joaillerie is a great option, as is Qeelin’s Wulu necklace with white agate. De Grisogono’s Allegra leather bracelets in shades of burnt orange, brown and fuchsia will set off those sun-kissed arms, or for something bolder but casual, the Capriinspired bracelets from Tamara Comolli’s Color Stories collection feature a combination of turquoise, white agate and coral.
Fred provides summer-ready sparkle with its Pain de Sucre rings, offering pieces set with cabochon-cut quartz, prasiolite, amethyst and turquoise. Wellendorff ’s new A Day by the Sea collection is likewise spot-on for the season, featuring colours inspired by the sea and sunsets. The line’s Reflections of the Sun and Reflections on the Water octagonal rings, for instance, glow with enamel in vibrant hues of blue-grey, deep turquoise, fiery orange and red that recall the spectacle of the sun going down on your day at the beach.
