LOUIS VUITTON CRUISE 2017
All Aboard SHOW
Fashion’s elite flew in from the four corners of the globe to preview Louis Vuitton’s cruise collection in a dramatic location by the sea in Rio de Janeiro—the newly renovated Niterói Contemporary Art Museum, a modernist masterpiece designed by the late Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Its winding walkway served as part of the runway, showing off Nicolas Ghesquière’s second cruise collection for the French label—a mix of sporty, colourful, modern looks, perhaps a nod to the Olympic Games due to take place in the city next month. Celebrity sightings included Ghesquière muses Alicia Vikander, Jaden Smith and Zendaya along with supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana and Tao Okamoto. After the show, A-listers decamped to the exquisite Parque Lage mansion at the base of the Corcovado, where they were wined and dined and watched a grand carnival performance. The following day guests of Louis Vuitton enjoyed a programme of sightseeing, including an early visit to Christ the Redeemer, a private brunch in the quaint neighbourhood of Santa Teresa and a helicopter tour of the city.
