Hit Broadway musical Wicked adds new dates to its Hong Kong tour

e all know what happened when Dorothy went to visit the Wizard of Oz, but what about the witches who were spooking around town? Wicked, the Broadway and West End musical phenomenon that tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, is set to cast its magical spell over the city when it debuts at the Academy for Performing Arts on December 8. Demand for the blockbuster musical, which has routinely played to sold-out audiences around the world, has been so overwhelming that the run has been extended to January 22. Featuring technical wizardry, stunning costumes and showstopping songs by three-time Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz, it has been performed in 100 cities and 14 countries and been translated into six languages. It also won three Tony awards on Broadway and two Olivier awards in London’s West End. The musical follows the story of good witch Glinda and greenskinned wicked witch Elphaba and their unlikey friendship during sorcery school. It’s humorous, fantastical and peppered with some seriously catchy tunes—not least the chart-topping finale Defying Gravity.

Tickets for the newly added performances (January 10-22) are available online at hkticketing.com.
