The Last Word

New York resident Laure Hériard Dubreuil, the chic founder and CEO of multibrand boutique The Webster, tells of her perfect day in her other favourite city

Miami, Florida, is a very special place for me, not least because it’s where I opened my first retail boutique (we now have four across the US). The city’s energy is unbeatable; it always feels positive, upbeat and optimistic. The combination of the incredible weather and art deco architecture always puts a smile on my face.

I generally try to catch the sunrise and start my day with an ocean swim, after which I grab an organic juice from Jugofresh or Manna Life and head to my South Beach boutique to spend time with the team and meet clients.

Once lunchtime arrives, we’re spoilt for choice. One of my favourite restaurants, if in the mood for Cuban, is Cafe Versailles in Little Havana. The Mandolin Aegean Bistro and Joe’s Stone Crab are also top places. The white walls, blue windows and atmosphere of the Mandolin make you feel as though you’re in Greece, and I always recommend Joe’s for the best seafood in town. For relaxed beachside drinks and lunch, I head to the Lido Bayside Grill at The Standard or Soho Beach House.

After lunch I often explore the Wynwood Art District. The Rubell Family Collection is a must-visit, as is the Pérez Art Museum, which was designed by Herzog & de Meuron. The museum has hanging gardens and swings facing the ocean and its restaurant, Verde, is excellent. I also like Gallery Diet, which has migrated from Wynwood to Little Haiti.

I’d recommend water skiing on the bay. I’ve always wanted to experience kite surfing—it’s hugely popular in Miami—and plan to try it on a visit soon. Also, take a ride down Ocean Drive in an old-school convertible to really immerse yourself in the energy of Miami.

My suitcase essentials include a classic Eres swimsuit and a Lisa Marie Fernandez shirt dress for easy transitions from day to night. I always pack a simple pair of Ancient Greek Sandals and some brightly coloured Pierre Hardy heels. Sunglasses are a must as the sun is very strong. I always take a few pairs, including my vintage Balenciaga frames and a pair of oversized Cat Eye Sunglasses by Stella Mccartney. Lots of gold jewellery from Aurelie Bidermann and a great clutch from Olympia Le-tan round out my must-haves.

I like to finish my day with sunset cocktails followed by a walk along the beach and dinner with friends.
