Asian premieres and acclaimed classics populate a vibrant Arts Festival programme
pening with Sascha Goetzel and the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Arts Festival presents a packed programme of dance, music, theatre and opera, an extravaganza that will keep the city buzzing until March 18. Look out for the voluptuous performances of Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, an exhilarating Canadian dance company famed for “jazzing up” ballet classics. On the music front, Gainsbourg Symphonic is a tribute to the legendary Serge Gainsbourg by his muse and partner Jane Birkin. The Shanghai Zhang Jun Kunqu Art Centre’s opera Blossoms on a Spring Moonlight Night brings the elegance of classical China into the contemporary, and Super Pool, a free-for-all computerised playground by interactive media artist Jen Lewin, is a glimpse into the future of play.
