The athletic trend just went intergalactic. All aboard the rocketship to sartorial Mars
French houses Courrèges, Mugler and Paco Rabanne have all undergone revivals in recent years and in the process they’ve been given an athletic, modern spin. This season a space-age aesthetic dominates their super-cool French take on sports chic: neoprene zip-up suits at Courrèges, shiny chain mail, clear PVC cocoon coats and sporty piping on body-hugging styles at Mugler, and scuba-style white balaclavas and futuristic white hooded anoraks at Paco Rabanne. There’s nothing sepia-tinted hippy or awkward-geek-in-cords-andflorals about it. This is the anti-70s movement. The look is normcore meets sportswear. It’s a Daybreaker disco... on Jupiter. It’s sublime.
