YOUTH DIABETES ACTION GALA DINNER

Transatlantica was the theme of the Youth Diabetes Action (YDA) dinner, which was held at the Kowloon International Trade & Exhibition Centre. From the miniature boat figurines that decorated the centrepieces on all the tables, to the chocolate anchors and the staff dressed in marine uniforms, everything was tied into the evening’s nautical theme and no detail was overlooked, thanks to event designer Bergé Studio. YDA chairwoman emeritus Joanna Hotung, accompanied by a group of children who have benefited from the organisation’s services, addressed the audience about the daily hardships faced by children with type 1 diabetes. She received a rousing round of applause when she outlined the achievements of the YDA over the preceding year, and another for the goals set for the coming months. Live and silent auctions raised more than HK$2 million for the YDA’S work. The evening’s sponsors included Accelera Yacht, Hopewell Holdings, and Purviz and Rusy Shroff.
