NUTCRACKER CHRISTMAS BENEFIT
The Nutcracker Christmas Benefit drew nearly 400 guests to the Grand Hyatt for a joyful occasion of live entertainment and Christmasthemed activities for children of all ages. The highlight of the afternoon, the Hong Kong Ballet Guild’s 10th annual holiday fundraising event, was an enchanting performance of The Nutcracker by children of members of the organising committee. The benefit featured three fundraising activities: the “Make A Pledge” campaign, a silent auction and a live auction. Three lots in the live auction stood out: an onstage role for a child in a 2019 Hong Kong Ballet production; a tailor-made child’s costume from Peter Pan, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake or The Sleeping Beauty created by the company’s wardrobe team; and a private lesson with former American Ballet Theatre principal Marcelo Gomes. Part of the proceeds will go to the company’s Dancers’ Sponsorship Fund, which provides educational and experiential benefits for its troupe.
