Behind the Scenes

When they all get together, the co-founders of Ecodrive can’t help but discuss ways to save the environment— even if they’re in the middle of a photo shoot

-

A t many photo shoots, conversation inevitably turns to the racks of designer clothes lining the studio or the velvet trays of diamond jewellery lying on the tables. Not so at this month’s cover shoot. Instead, the topic of the day was reusable water bottles. Are metal bottles best or do they leave an odd aftertaste? Are silicone bottles as environmentally friendly as glass? Will glass bottles smash in your bag?

Perhaps this shouldn’t have come as a surprise. The 10 women who took part in our shoot are the co-founders of Ecodrive, a Hong Kong-based organisation that aims to reduce the use of single-use plastics in the city through its ambitious educational programmes and workshops with corporations.

But being eco-friendly doesn’t mean you can’t occasionally treat yourself. After photographer Jason Capobianco took the final shot, Emily Lam-ho pulled a bottle of champagne from her handbag and poured everyone some celebratory bubbly—into reusable cups, of course.
