- Hu Min

THE urban forest flower exhibition, which opens on Friday at the Gongqing Forest Park in Yangpu District, will feature 3D paintings, gardening landscape, flower boats and fairy tale forest houses.

The exhibition will have more than 100 varieties on display. The art and gardening area, which looks like a leaf, has been designed on the concept of life cycle and eco protection. The 3D paintings show a garden surrounded by helix flower cloud symbolizing nebula, and 10 inverted withered trees that look like flower containers, delivering a message of life vitality.

In the water flower exhibition area, boats filled with flowers float on the river. There are 1,200 crabapple flowers, 1,000 peach flowers, 400 cherry blossoms and other varieties of plants including blue glechoma, purple Chinese violet cress, yellow dandelion, and white chickweed — all adding a splash of color in the park.

There are five sightseeing routes at the park. Visitors can participate in several events at the exhibition.

Three exquisite forest flower cabins will be the venue for gardening classes, plant display and photo exhibition. Visitors will also get a chance to observe birds, squirrels and eagles.

Children can design and create magic replica gardens in “The Hobbit” with spring flowers and forest wood, while 3D painting masters will invite visitors to experience the charm of naked eye paintings.
