Delicious meals at the touch of a button

SONGJIANG District’s cross regional development and cooperation G60 program is paying off with a number of high-tech startups achieving impressive results.

Among them, Shanghai Love Meal Industry Co has developed an automatic cooker to save time in the kitchen.

Three to five minutes after you put chopped raw food into a cabinet and push a button, a plate of delectable dish is served.

The automatic cooker is about 1.3 meters in height and occupies less than a square meter of floor space. It looks like an ordinary single-door refrigerator.

He Qing, the company’s chairman, said: “My wife used to complain that I could offer no help but eat the food she cooked. I felt frustrated for I really didn’t know how to cook. Therefore, I wondered if I could invent an automatic cooking machine that simply would free everybody from the labor.”

The idea of an automatic cooking machine attracted a number of research teams because of its huge potential, but most gave up due to the complex technologies involved.

It took He and his team eight years of trail and error, and tens of millions of yuan.

In a recent demonstration, a technician showed how the machine cooked a plate of rice cakes with onion and beef.

She put a box of onion, beef and rice cakes into the machine, and three minutes after she pushed the “sauté” button, the machine was done with cooking.

Then she put a plate at the bottom of the cabinet. The inner wok rotated automatically and transferred the dish to the plate.

A screen on the device can be linked to e-commerce food and ingredients suppliers.
