A culture-culinary fun bazaar kicks off

Suburban parks will jointly host various activities to enrich the tour experience­s of residents and tourists and enable them to get close to nature.

At Pujiang Countrysid­e Park in Minhang District, jazz performanc­es, flower arrangemen­t art, a food market, a haipai (Shanghai-style) culture and a fashion show will run from September 20 to October 6.

Changxing Island Countrysid­e Park will host a tourism culture and art festival between September 25 and mid-October, while Jiabei Countrysid­e Park will be the venue for a straw culture festival. Light shows and cycling events will be held at Langxia Countrysid­e Park in Jinshan District.

A number of shopping tourist routes will be released on September 19 and walking tours along the Suzhou Creek will be organized on September 20.

The tourism festival will run through September 27.

A fun bazaar taking visitors on a cultural journey to around 20 museums in the Yangtze River Delta region and offering them a culinary experience made its debut at the Shanghai Film Museum in Xuhui District last night. This new event is part of the ongoing 31st Shanghai Tourism Festival.

During the four-day event there will be shadow play performanc­es and visitors will be invited to learn how to make sachets following masters from the Shanghai Museum.

A “grand garden party” kicked off last night with the film square illuminate­d and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse from Shanghai Disney Resort adding to the fun with their singing and dance routines.

The Calabash Brothers, famous Chinese animation characters from the Shanghai Animation Film Studio, were at the scene to interact with visitors.

Around 20 museums, including the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai Natural History Museum, Suzhou Museum, China Maritime Museum and the Shanghai Auto Museum brought their cultural and innovative products to the bazaar.

Delicacies such as Longhua zen food and Qiaojiasha­n (a time-honored restaurant) dim sum are served at the bazaar. When night falls, an outdoor movie will be screened at the square.
