A film exhibition paying tribute to the effort and dedication of China’s medical workers is underway at Macalline Cinema World in Bailian Quyang Shopping Mall.

The week-long exhibition showcases six productions, old and new, through February 7. They are “Days and Nights in Wuhan,” “Diary of A Nurse,” “Withered Trees Revive,” “Meeting Life and Death,” “Dr Bethune” and “I Am A Doctor.”

“Days and Nights in Wuhan” is one of the latest documentaries centered on Wuhan’s battle against COVID-19 over the past year. From the first reported cases, it points a lens at ordinary people’s daily life during the pandemic. Cao Jinling, director of the film, revealed the 95-minute movie was edited from over 1,000 hours of film material sent in by the public.

“Diary of A Nurse,” directed by Tao Jin in 1957, tells the story of a young nurse, who volunteers to work in a rural area of northeastern China. As a result, she breaks up with her boyfriend in Shanghai.

“Withered Trees Revive” directed by Zheng Junli in 1961 is adapted from a drama of the same name. It is about a woman who heals from schistosomiasis thanks to the help of medical workers and the local government. “Dr Bethune,” which debuted in 1965, is a biopic about Canadian doctor Norman Bethune, who came to China in the 1930s to offer his medical expertise.

“Meeting Life and Death,” which premiered in 2002 during the SARS pandemic, provides an insight into the emotional world of a surgeon whose wife died in surgery after a car accident.

“I Am A Doctor,” a biopic movie in 2017, tells touching stories about Wu Mengchao, a celebrated Chinese surgeon and medical scientist who specializes in the field of hepatobiliary surgery.
