Black-and-white combinations create striking effects in the latest fine jewellery collections
ulgari celebrated the opening of its Hong Kong flagship store on Canton Road in January by bringing some of its most memorable high jewellery pieces. The Ultimate Temptation necklace, created for the brand’s 130th anniversary, is an impressive Serpenti with 60 carats of fantasy-cut diamonds, completed with a 12.16-carat pear-shaped drop. The necklace gives a 3D feel with shadows cast by the raised serpent’s scales.
Wellendorff ’s latest high jewellery collection centres on the amulet, a symbol designed to bring good fortune to the wearer. With several variations of the two-sided pendants able to store a personal message or a token within their structure, Amulet Noble-aquamarine comes with a sun motif engraved in white gold and glistening with diamonds and black enamel on one side, and with a large aquamarine cabochon on the other.
Chinese actress Zhang Jingchu is the muse for De Beers’ latest collection, Enchanted Lotus. The bold openwork floral patterns bring attention to the brilliance of the diamonds, created within a graphic interpretation of the lotus. The bands come in two versions: white ceramic with pink gold, and black ceramic with white gold.
Another collection highlighting the use of ceramic is Cosmique de Chanel, where white and black variations of the material are used as the bands and pendants, accented with diamond comets and stars. This is the first time that Chanel Fine Jewellery has used ceramic to bring a touch of modernity to the iconic motif, created by Coco Chanel in 1932.
Dinh Van has updated its 1970s line Spirale. Two gold rings are used to wrap around each other, creating a two-toned spring. There are white and black diamond versions of the collection, in pendants, rings and bracelets. The large Spirale bracelet comes in white gold with brilliant and black diamonds.
