Jason and Jamie lee

-

Like most siblings, Jason and Jamie Lee have their fair share of disagreements and chose different career paths—jamie is the co-founder of Crossfit 852, while Jason is the executive director for the family-run Dah hwa International holdings, which focuses on leather trading. also like most siblings, they have a steadfast need to watch out for one another.

the brothers cite the time when their family left hong Kong and moved to Los angeles, when they were in primary school. “I was only eight years old and had no idea how to blend into the american culture. It was a milestone because it was such a culture shock for both of us,” says Jamie.

the move compelled Jason to step into the older brother role. “We had to adapt to a new way of life, down to things as simple as eating sandwiches in school instead of Chinese food,” says Jason. “I felt I had to be more of a big brother and look after Jamie.” the experience was made even more difficult as their father stayed in hong Kong for work. “Back then, we’d let each other know whenever we were missing our dad. talking to Jamie made it easier,” says Jason.

they eventually returned to hong Kong, which meant the brothers had to leave behind the circle of friends they made in the US. “We had to make a whole new set of friends when we returned,” says Jason. “Much like when we moved to La, Jamie and I always knew we had each other for friendship and support while we were trying to meet new people.” Jamie agrees: “We look out for each other—whether it is to keep one out of trouble or to support each other in times of need.”
