Sotheby’s Diamonds celebrates a decade of creativity with a special collection of jewels
Well known for distilling nature into wearable jewels, Sotheby’s Diamonds has designed a commemorative collection for its 10th birthday inspired by its most iconic designs. The brand has created many memorable jewels over the past decade for clients who missed out on purchasing certain pieces during auction cycles, and also for individuals who prefer to stay out of the limelight. Its unique partnership with Diacore, whose world-class artisans have been cutting and polishing extraordinary diamonds for more than seven decades, provides Sotheby’s Diamonds with a source of rare and important loose stones that are extremely difficult to find on the market and may not appear at auction for years. This enables the brand to focus on one-of-a-kind pieces designed around rare and important stones.
Among the highlights of the new anniversary collection is the Pink Diamond Flower Brooch. It features 7.6 carats of fancy pink and D-colour flawless diamonds as the stunning petals and leaves, mounted in platinum and 18K pink gold. Each pair of earrings in the Day Series range, which is inspired by Monet’s water lilies and Rouen Cathedral, has about 4 carats of brilliant-cut diamonds. The Midnight Earrings have a diamond surrounded by lapis lazuli and onyx in 18K white gold, while the Sunrise Earrings come in rose gold, with peach moonstone and cornelian surrounding the diamond. Other highlights include an important 20-carat cushion-cut D-colour internally flawless (DIF) diamond ring with pink diamond shank, and a 13-carat pear-shaped DIF diamond ring.
All the stones for the collection were handpicked by Patti Wong, who has been chairman of Sotheby’s Diamonds since the brand was founded in 2005. She is also chairman of Sotheby’s Asia. “We are pleased with our first 10 years,” says Wong, whose experience has seen her become one of the most trusted diamond experts in the world. “We have built a strong foundation and design for Sotheby’s Diamonds, and we are currently evaluating a number of options for expanding the business to the next level.”
The anniversary collection is available for purchase at the Sotheby’s Diamonds salons in New York and Hong Kong as well as through exclusive exhibitions worldwide.
