Hanging tough
Sabrina Fung-lam delivered a shoot far outside the ordinary for our anniversary issue and first augmented reality cover
When she rushed into the studio for this month’s cover shoot, Sabrina Fung-lam had her trainer, Anson Cha, in tow, as they’d just come from a workout. What serendipity. Anson was able to advise Sabrina on executing the athletic poses we had her doing for photographer Wing Shya and our good friend Sean Lee-davies, who was on set with his company, Awethentic Studio, to shoot Hong Kong Tatler’s first augmented reality (AR) cover—a fitting way to catch the fitness fanatic in action and to kick-start, literally, our 40th anniversary issue.
Sabrina threw herself into the moves, swinging from ropes, jumping over bars, dipping and performing all sorts of contortions for the camera like a natural-born athlete. Spoiler alert: she even wishes us a happy birthday in the AR video. Be sure to download the free Awethentic app from the Apple App Store and scan the cover to catch the full story.
Our cover star loved the looks we chose for her, from Sonia Rykiel and Christian Dior, as well as swimwear by Eres and Vilebrequin—all of which looked perfect on her toned silhouette. It was a long day—we started at 11am and finished past 10pm—but Sabrina was an extremely good sport throughout the shoot, with energy aplenty and a great sense of laidback fun. Her husband and kids popped by near the end of the day and marvelled at her striking stances. “You look like Wonder Woman,” said one of her children. Once Sabrina had left the set, we plugged Anson for fitness tips so we could look like Sabrina. One can dream, right?
