RETIRE IN STYLE

Hong Kong’s first luxury lifestyle senior community, Ventria Residence, offers plenty of five-star amenities and superior, round-the-clock care

You’ve spent a lifetime working hard and now it’s time to put your feet up, relax and enjoy life. Ventria Residence, launching in 2022, is a dream come true for Hongkongers who want to retire in an environment offering luxury facilities and service, for a comfortable, serene lifestyle.

Located in Happy Valley, with optimal views of the racecourse or the green hills behind, Ventria Residence will offer its residents a concierge service; a spa; a hair and beauty salon; a heated indoor pool; a gym; and gourmet cuisine—all with a focus on wellness. There will also be a clubhouse, multifunction rooms, daily activities and special interest classes, landscaped gardens and access to the Pioneer Memorial Church and its La Rue Hall.

“Living in Ventria Residence is like a luxury cruise ship experience, a home away from home, but with far more variety and space—and no chance of motion sickness!” says Maria Lee, executive director of Roseville Senior Living Management, the project manager for Ventria.

In addition, beneath the sumptuous surface, you’ll find on-site, round-the-clock nursing care; in-house medical and rehabilitation consultation services; and custom designed care for seniors who require assisted living and help with memory.

“We have a professional and caring team that includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and dietitians to cater for the medical needs of our guests, in addition to the hospitality staff,” says Cindy Wong, the director of Operations at Roseville.

“Families who have been providing basic home care for their loved ones, with the assistance of a trained helper or nursing care professional, or perhaps both, will find that they cannot do all things all the time. However, at Ventria, with comprehensive health care available 24/7, families and residents alike can stop worrying.”

Throughout the Western world, the upscale retirement home is one of most popular options for retirees seeking a high degree of comfort, but the concept is only now taking off in Hong Kong.

“The city’s greying population, along with changing perspectives on the acceptability of out of home senior care, mean retirees with discerning lifestyle demands will be queuing up for upscale residences like Ventria,” says Lee.

Developed by the Hong Kong-macao Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Church and Chevalier Group, Ventria is a 22-storey complex consisting of two main sections. The higher floors are designed for independent living, and lower floors for assisted living. Each section has its own lobby, as well as separate lounge and dining facilities to ensure privacy and socialising preferences.

Residents who opted for independent living can choose from one- or two-bedroom flats in various configurations that focus on universal design and culture—there are three different interior design themes: minimalist, modern classic and Chinese contemporary to ensure the unit feels like home.

Safety is paramount with sensor lighting, walk-in massage bath tubs, non-slip flooring, lightweight doors and Easy Up chairs among the features. And technology has been seamlessly integrated: the flats feature smart home automation systems with voice-activated controls to open curtains, turn on lights or call for help, for example, as well as smart electronic appliances and companion robots ready to do anything from reminding residents to take their medication to sensing when they are unwell.

“The work that has gone into making Ventria Residence a desirable, dignified and fulfilling retirement community has made it a labour of love,” says Lee. “Residents can expect high quality facilities that allow them to graciously retire in style, with as much comfort and freedom as possible. I look forward to moving in myself when the time comes, to a place where I can enjoy chatting and being with people my age.”
