NERVES OF STEEL
In 1904, Louis Cartier made his aviator friend Alberto Santosdumont what is widely considered to be the first pilot’s wristwatch. Since relaunching the subsequently named Santos collection in 2018, Cartier has released additional models with new case and dial combinations. This year a clean-cut Santos de Cartier was released in a moody all-black. It’s slightly larger than its predecessors, which adds to the timepiece’s macho design, and it features a nifty date complication at six o’clock. The black coating covers the entire case, including the watch’s bezel and crown, while an inky-black dial contrasts beautifully against white Roman numerals. Choose from a rubber or alligator leather strap.
