Man jailed for attempted murder

A MAN who stabbed his friend with a bread knife in a drunken row over a girl has been jailed for 15 months.

Girne Assizes Court passed sentence on Thursday on Semih Aktaş for attempted murder, wounding and illegal possession of a knife over the February attack which wounded his unnamed friend in the kidney and leg.

Judge Temay Sağer said the court had taken into account Aktaş’s remorse and the fact that he had taken his friend to hospital, while the victim had also made a statement forgiving him.
