Weapon used in fatal attack found

-

DETECTIVES have found a knife used in the fatal stabbing of a university student in Alsancak but are now looking for a second weapon and another murder suspect.

One man was arrested last week for the killing of 22-year-old Libyan Mohamed Jumma Salem Attroug, but Girne District Court was told that investigators believed he had gone with five others to Attroug’s flat at 1.45am on December 29 and all had left together.

Attroug was stabbed six times in the chest and abdomen and died on the way to hospital.

The first suspected killer, 25year-old Jordanian student Maxim Hamed Mohammad Al-Ja Afreh, was remanded in custody for a further eight days on Tuesday along with four fellow student “accomplices”.
