FOUR puppies have been adopted and it is hoped to home more through sales of 5TL bookmarks produced by the Golden Paws Association.
One thousand bookmarks have been printed featuring photographs of some of the 350 puppies and dogs in care at Lefkoşa Animal Shelter which were taken free of charge by Efsane Mene.
The animal welfare charity has been conducting photo shoots with animals at the shelter for some three years and is planning to do another in February on the theme of Valentine’s Day. “Publication of the photos in a range of useful products has helped to find new homes for several dogs and puppies over the years and we hope it will continue to do so,” said association member Yeliz Osman Cin.
“Last year, we managed to home 10 dogs and puppies through the photo shoot campaign. We usually use the images in products that are sold to raise money and awareness by showing how beautiful the animals are after being rescued by the shelter.
“The products also help people who owe money for veterinary treatment due to helping a stray or abandoned dog or those who cannot afford such fees. When they can’t pay, we provide them with a batch of whatever the product is and help them to sell them to pay the veterinary bills.”
Bookmarks are on sale at Girne’s Shooters café and at Tunç Öncan veterinary clinic or at Empati veterinary practice and at Çise Sezel Pharmacy in Gazimağusa. They can also be purchased by arranging collection in Lefkoşa by messaging https://www.facebook.com/alti npatilerdernegi/.
The Golden Paws Association is to hold a free entry “mini concert” in St Andrew’s Church hall, Girne, between 6pm and 9pm today in aid of dog rescue activities. The event will feature Erin Elizel and Müge Asi Deniz, with all donations going towards the cost of veterinary expenses and travel costs incurred in sending dogs and puppies to new homes.
