Kıb-Tek on list of ‘tax champions’

THE Finance Ministry has revealed its latest lists of “tax champions”, revealing that the Kıb-Tek electricit­y authority paid the highest amount of company dues in 2017, and Serena Butik owner Tahir Topal the most as an individual.

Kıb-Tek leaped from third place in the corporate tax-payers’ list in 2016 by paying 42.914 million TL on incomings of 182.613 million TL, while Aksa Energy, which operates the country’s privately run power station at Kalecik, occupied the 15th place, paying 7.101 million TL on turnover of 30.220 million TL.

The T&T consortium upgrading and expanding Ercan airport was toppled in 2017 from the top spot it had held for some years, becoming the secondhigh­est payers with a tax bill of 35.842 million TL on turnover of 152.521 million TL.

Banks, tourism, hotel and travel firms, and betting outfits dominated the rest of the corporate “top 20”.

On the individual list, boutique boss Mr Topal paid 2.464 million TL in tax on earnings of 7.619 million, while Günay Çerkez, of Korineum Golf and Beach Resort, Korman Constructi­on and the Turkell mobile phone firm, rose from fifth place in 2016 to second last year with a tax bill of 1.568 million TL on earnings of 4.869 million.

Rounding out the “top 10” were chicken entreprene­ur Mustafa Hacıali with tax of 918,288TL, Burak Başel (621,640TL), Turgay Ersalıca (598,832TL), Işın Ramadan Cemil (591,719TL), Abdullah Cüneyt Yusuf (508,376TL), Sofu Altınbaş (481,075TL), Vakkas Altınbaş (459,998 TL) and Mete Özmerter (459,222TL).
