Kıb-Tek on list of ‘tax cham­pi­ons’

THE Fi­nance Min­istry has re­vealed its lat­est lists of “tax cham­pi­ons”, re­veal­ing that the Kıb-Tek elec­tric­ity au­thor­ity paid the high­est amount of com­pany dues in 2017, and Ser­ena Bu­tik owner Tahir Topal the most as an in­di­vid­ual.

Kıb-Tek leaped from third place in the cor­po­rate tax-pay­ers’ list in 2016 by pay­ing 42.914 mil­lion TL on in­com­ings of 182.613 mil­lion TL, while Aksa En­ergy, which op­er­ates the coun­try’s pri­vately run power sta­tion at Kale­cik, oc­cu­pied the 15th place, pay­ing 7.101 mil­lion TL on turnover of 30.220 mil­lion TL.

The T&T con­sor­tium up­grad­ing and ex­pand­ing Er­can air­port was top­pled in 2017 from the top spot it had held for some years, be­com­ing the sec­ond­high­est pay­ers with a tax bill of 35.842 mil­lion TL on turnover of 152.521 mil­lion TL.

Banks, tourism, ho­tel and travel firms, and bet­ting out­fits dom­i­nated the rest of the cor­po­rate “top 20”.

On the in­di­vid­ual list, bou­tique boss Mr Topal paid 2.464 mil­lion TL in tax on earn­ings of 7.619 mil­lion, while Gü­nay Çerkez, of Korineum Golf and Beach Re­sort, Kor­man Con­struc­tion and the Turkell mo­bile phone firm, rose from fifth place in 2016 to sec­ond last year with a tax bill of 1.568 mil­lion TL on earn­ings of 4.869 mil­lion.

Round­ing out the “top 10” were chicken en­tre­pre­neur Mustafa Hacıali with tax of 918,288TL, Bu­rak Başel (621,640TL), Tur­gay Er­salıca (598,832TL), Işın Ra­madan Cemil (591,719TL), Ab­dul­lah Cüneyt Yusuf (508,376TL), Sofu Altın­baş (481,075TL), Vakkas Altın­baş (459,998 TL) and Mete Özmerter (459,222TL).
