Spanning a decade, the eight Harry Potter movies penned by JK Rowling, were the most successful series in the history of cinema — $6 billion and counting.
Earlier Ms Rowling had enough publishers’ rejection slips to paper a wall. Her success is a triumph of perseverence.
In this apocalyptic showdown in 2011, young Harry, alias Daniel Radcliffe, confronts his nemesis, the evil Voldemort, alias Ralph Fiennes.
They do battle in Hogwarts School, where Harry and his supporters are besieged by an army of Death Eaters, Dementors, giants and assorted beasties. Hogwarts is reduced to rubble and many die.
All the old favourites are here, such as Harry’s pals Ron and Hermione, alias Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. Be warned, this isn’t quite the end. Harry returns in a new adventure in 2020 — Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.
